Just when we thought 2025 couldn’t end any better after the incredible Christmas gift the ocean gave us on the 24th… Yesterday, December 30, the ocean decided to spoil us once more. The very same pod of orcas we encountered a week ago, then feeding on a blue shark, was back, this time hunting the elusive thresher shark. Not an easy time to be a shark in these waters lately,
when the true kings and queens of the ocean are roaming the area. 🐼 🎥 @evansbaudin

The only interactions we should ever have with wil

The only interactions we should ever have with wildlife are the ones that happen naturally, on the animal’s terms.
No forcing contact. No invading space. Just calm, controlled encounters based on respect and understanding. In this video, you can see a blue shark approaching our guide out of pure curiosity. We never promote touching animals, and we never encourage it as a sign of respect.
In this specific situation, the shark was actively seeking contact. Our guide simply placed his hand in front of the shark to gently redirect it, a standard safety technique used to keep both the animal and the diver safe, without stress or aggression. Our guests are never allowed to deliberately touch wildlife or seek direct contact. However, it’s important to understand that in the wild, animals sometimes initiate interactions themselves. This is exactly why these activities must only be conducted by trained, experienced professionals who know how to read behavior and react appropriately. It’s also important to clarify that a Divemaster is NOT necessarily a wildlife guide. While diving certifications are valuable, they do not automatically equate to experience with wild animal behavior. We’ve seen this repeatedly this season in Bahía Magdalena during the Sardine Run, diving guides with little to no real experience in wildlife interactions. Unfortunately, social media can be misleading. A large following and a few beautiful photos do not equal knowledge, training, or solid safety protocols. This has become a global issue, and as guests and travelers, it’s essential to do proper research before choosing who to trust, for your own safety and for the well-being of the animals. Choose experience. Choose ethics. Choose respect for the ocean. 🎥 @liang.dennis
